HALIZA'S PHOTO PORTFOLIO~
Cyclone in the lift.
This photo is taken in a lift and i used a very low shutter speed and this is the result. :)
Only source of light.
The light in this photo represents the Sun. And as we all know that the Sun is the only source of light known to Earth. So save it.
Childhood memories.
This is Gingy. he is a character from the movie "Shrek" and he has always been my favourite character since young. I took this photo recently.I hope to find it 20 years down the road and remind myself on my childhood memories.
A little hope on a gloomy day.
This is a picture of a village on a dark day. But the sun is shining very brightly hoping that the villagers will have a good day despite the darkness.
Electronic tadpole.
I actually wanted to take a picture of the sunset but I had forgotten to change the settings to a faster shutter speed and the color. But this is the result and I find it quite interesting:)
Sec 2 charity bazaar
On 2 August 2010,the Secondary 2s were given a task to set up a stall to raise funds for the Children Cancer foundation. It was a great oportunity for the Secondary 2 students to show their care and concern for those suffering cancers at a very young age.
Being from a Secondary 1 class,I had a chance to see the caring Secondary 2s' empathy for the young cancer patients.Since I couldn't shace my head like how some teachers did,I showed my care and concern by donating and buying from some stalls.
Here I have Rachel Tan from 1E4 giving her view on the bazaar."It is a very interesting way to raise money for the cancer patients. The duration of the bazaar was very suitable for those having ASP after school. It started the second the bell was rung and ended when it was time to start ASP.So,there were sufficient time for students to browse, buy and eat the things bought."
I found alot of creative ideas from the Secondary 2s.For example,I saw Secondary 2E4 giving free hugs and selling SHINee pouches and earpieces. As for games,2N1 had a game where people could throw wet sponge to a 2N1 student. When I asked Rachel how she felt about the game, she replied that it was a great way to take revenge on a friend.
I think my favourite was 2E1's song dedication programme. It's great and almost all my favourite songs were played!

RHD interview
Interview on RHD2010 with Afiqah Latiff from 1E2.
What did you think of the bazaar?
It was super!I didn't buy any food from the canteen as I bought my recess food from my friends.
What have you learnt from RISE lessons about RHD?
Like the NE message says,'we must preserve racial and religious harmony.'Meaning,no more riots,no talking bad about other races and religions. We must always stay united!
Which part of the bazaar did you like best?
The food!It was soooo delicious!!!The performances at the atrium! And also seeing my friends in beautiful ethnic costumes! The school was so colorful today!
What would you do if a riot were to break out?
I don't think a riot would break out anytime soon.Just look at the playground at your estate!Children of different races are playing and sharing toys together! But if a riot were to break out, then I think I would hide in my room until the riots and killing are over.
If you could change the whole event, what would you change?
I would make the duration longer as I think 35 minutes was too short to enjoy the food and the performance.
Did anybody in your class wear traditional clothes?
Only a handful. But mostly the malays.
A wednesday afternoon in ESSS
Wednesday is probably one of the busiest day for East Springians. With Teacher's Day coming up,the different aesthetics CCA groups are training and practising hard to perform and show their thank yous to their teachers.Rachael Sim from 1E4 once told me 'Chinese Dance is now more tiring as Teacher's Day is an important event to celebrate. We have to cordinate our steps. I can't dance my best alone.WE have to dance our best together.'
Kerry Zambrano of 1E4 from choir also told me that they had to sing together to sound perfectly.'The sopranos have to sing their notes perfectly. The altos have to sing their notes perfect to produce a perfect sound.',she told me.
Even in NCC teamwork is important! As they were preparing for an inter-competition,they had to work hard.and to produce good work, teamwork is needed.Terence Lin of 3E4 said 'teamwork is like a stick.if there's only one stick,it's easy to break. But if there are more sticks,it would be harder to break. If there's only one of us,it would be very hard to perform. But when there's your teammates, you have a back to lean on.'
Brandon Tan from 2E4 said that teamwork helps things done.As Singaporeans,we want things done faster.More people working together means work could be finished faster.
It is indeed a busy Wednesday afternoon in East Spring!

badminton finals-YOG
On 19th August,6 of the best badminton players in the youth category were named after intense and nail-biting matches. It was the badminton finals for both males and females.Great Britain,Vietnam,Thailand and China battled for the females and South Korea,India and Thailand for the males.
For the match between Great Britain and Vietnam,it was a pretty intense one.I wouldn't say it was a boring game nor the best game I've watched.Unlike the match between China and Thailand. Both players were equally good and of the same weight.Through out that match,I sat at the corner of my seat.It was intense. After every score won by Sapsiree(Thai's representative),Sapsiree would let out a scream of joy and Deng Xuan(China's representative),would look at Sapsiree with a green eye.Thailand could proudly say the gold medal was theirs within 2 games only.14:21 and 17:21.I think Deng Xuan lost because she fell a few times giving Sapsiree a chance to smash the shuttlecock down on Deng Xuan's side and score a point.Even though both sides wanted the gold very badly, they made sure they played the match fair.So in the end,Thailand got the gold medal,China silver and Vietnam bronze.
Even though the female's matches were interesting, there was only 1 match I was looking forward to watch and that was the males match,Thailand versus India. Most girls would support the Thailand badminton player,Pisit Poodchalat, because of his looks and his skills. Most guys would support India's badminton player,Haseena Sunil Kumar Prannoy, because of jealousy, maybe?Well, whatever it is,I agree with those who support Pisit Poodchalat.I had interviewed a few female spectators. The replies were the same when asked who they supported.'Thailand.'It was pretty obvious. When asked to rate the match 1 to 10,1 being uninteresting at all and 10 vice versa, many rated the match 7-9.One said 'Never was I so interested in a badminton match.I came only because I had a free ticket. This is the first time I'm watching a badminton match and I actually find it interesting, because of who is playing it and the spectators.'Some nearly lost their voices shouting and cheering for their players. In the end,Thailand got gold, again,India silver and Korea bronze.
Of course the players have to give the supporters some credit for winning their medals.Vietnam and Thailand badminton players should say thank you to who might be the 'best dressed supporter'.He probably came from Thailand. He wore a very traditional Thailand costume and stood throughout the whole game.He danced, shouted, cheered and waved his banner everytime the team he supports scores a point. The whole stadium could hear his cheers.People might laugh and say his an attention-seeker but I salute him!He embarrassed himself in public just to support his country. It only shows how much he loves his country.

CCA attachment 2011
On a sunny 21st January 2011,the different clubs and societies and uniform groups were ending their week with the last round of CCA attachment. After a stressful day of studying, students in East Spring were ready to have some fun with the different CCAs they were attached to.
The secondary ones played an array of activities and games which the seniors have prepared for them. Most of those interviewed said that it was a very good experience. A prospective secondary one NCC cadet said that it was "a very good experience", and that the activities were fun but tough. When asked to rate the CCA 1-5(1 being worst and 5 being best) he rated the CCA s stunning 4.5!
Brandon from 1N1, had a go at the Chroma Key green screen in his attachment to Infocomm Club. "It was the coolest thing I have done!" he exclaimed. If given a choice,he commented,he would definitely pick Infocomm as his CCA. He liked the video editing and animating the best.Perhaps we'll see him in Mediacorp in years to come.
Some secondary ones selected the entrepreneurship club as their attachment choice as they hope it would prepare them for he business world.Xin Lur from 1E4 said that Entrepreneurship Club teaches them many useful things such as how to earn profit from resources that they have.Hopefully the Entrepreneurship Club will mould them to enterprising businessmen and women who would do the country proud and place Singapore on the world map!
Friday was a spectacular success, and a visit round the school showed me how vibrant and multi-faceted our activities in East Spring are.The secondary ones,as well as all their seniors, certainly had an enjoyable and fruitful time.
